Most of us have a habit to think about a task in one
moment and forget it the next moment as we’re busy in
doing something else.
Many times what I forget can cause us a severe loss.
But if you have Omni Focus with you then you should
worry less. It’s a task management tool that’s based
on 3 simple rules.
+ Think about a task. (Dump it)
+ Set a deadline for the task. (Manage it)
+ Do the task. (Finish it)
One can have a short cut key to dump the task. So imagine
you are using your favorite web browser or program editor
and you think about something that you need to do later.
Just dump it by typing the short-cut key.
Later, when you are free set deadlines for your tasks. And
it keeps on reminding you about the tasks when the deadlines
come closer. The task can be anything … write a piece of
code to fix a bug or pay your credit card bills.
Just create different projects and contexts … align your
tasks to a project or a context .. do it later. If you miss
a deadline, just change the due date. That way, your tasks
is pushed for few days but you will do it for sure.
And if you have a Iphone or Ipod Touch then you can sync the
tasks nicely. Well, it’s bit expensive to get the licensed
version. But it’s worth it.

Dare to Begin

To work is easy, to work faster you need pace, and to maintain that
pace you need determination.

I don’t know how many of you might have faced this situation but
generally when I work for a long time I sometimes just minimize all
applications I am working with to take a breathe. Then I justsit in a
relaxed posture and keep on staring my desktop!

At times, the theme of the desktop wallpaper inspires me to keep on
moving. So, once in a while I keep on changing the theme that suits the
best to my mood. You can say it as an unchanged mood I am having
these days that I haven’t changed the current wallpaper theme.

But I guess, the reason is much more than that. 1st of all I just liked the
black N white background. Every time I look into the same I try to find
more meaning out of the so called “pier” theme of mac. It’s more than a
raised walkway over the water. After trying to understand it for several
times I feel that it encourages us to dare to set out for a journey when
the path is not easy …. non the less to begin our journey at least. I think
I will keep the same theme for couple of days more!

This is the first time I am using Mac and I had faced a very
funny problem last night while trying to listen to some songs
from my old collection of DVDs.

Mac books doesn’t have a typical DVD reader with the eject
button. The device is inside the laptop with some kind of
protected coat over the reader. You just place your DVD there,
and it will pull it inside. And if the DVD is working fine, you don’t
have to worry much. You can use the CTRL + Click operation
on the icon to do normal stuffs.

But I had a corrupted DVD which just stucked inside. And it was
not mounted in the system. Hence, I had no regular options to
eject it. I tried to find the Eject button externally in the Hardware.
But then I thought normal mp3 player have a default eject button.
Hence, I just found the same in Itunes application.

The trick worked for me. But later I tried digging into google for
more options! I came across few solutions but the one I liked the
most is the “drutil” tool.

All you need to do is:

# drutil tray eject

That’s it, It will work fine for you even if the media is not
mounted properly.
